Reptile Heat Rock

Reptile Heat Rocks are designed to duplicate the natural basking process in all lizards and snakes. They have a surface temperature approximately 10-15F (6-8`C) higher than the air temperature in your terrarium or vivarium.
Without sufficient heat reptiles cannot produce enough digestive enzymes to properly digest their food which can result in the death of your animal. They will not however produce enough heat to heat the air temperature in your terrarium or vivarium. To do this you will need an additional heat source such as a heat mat, ceramic heat emitter, infrared spot bulb or a basking spot lamp.

Reptile Heat Mat

Reptile heat mats sit under your terrarium or vivarium. They are made from high temperature heat resistant vinyl. The heater will heat the substrate then the air temperature. After plugging the heat mat in it will take about 6 hours to reach its maximum effectiveness. There will be an increase in the air temperature inside your terrarium/vivarium of +5 to10F (+3-6`C).
Heat mats are extremely energy efficient and cost only a few cent a day to operate.
